Kennedy Banks

Kennedy is passionate about research and loves working with children, so she’s thrilled to be a part of this team! She grew up in the Bay Area of California before she came to BYU to study Human Development. You might find her reading, swimming, shopping, tanning, or hiking in her free time. Kennedy hopes to advocate for children’s mental health by becoming a School Psychologist in her future career.

Tanya is a Psychology major from Mapleton, Utah. She plans on attending a graduate program in School Psychology after completing her Bachelor’s at BYU. She enjoys Martial Arts and comes from a family of Black Belts. When not busy with school, you can find her sewing, playing volleyball, or having a dance party with her sisters. Tanya loves watching how people interact with each other and is excited to work with Project MEDIA!

Madeleine Meldrum

Madeleine is from Lancaster, Pennsylvania, although she has lived in five states and two countries during her life. She is studying Sociology with the goal of becoming a professor, and she loves learning about people and what makes them tick! Madeleine can often be found taking a long walk with a good podcast, making soup, and hanging out with her siblings and friends.

Nathan is a psychology major who grew up in Raleigh, North Carolina and Jacksonville, Florida. He also lived in Singapore where he served a church mission. He loves soccer, guitar, country music, art, and being a good listening ear for friends who need it. Nathan wants to focus his career around helping alleviate depression, anxiety, and trauma through talk therapy and research, and he looks forward to being a part of Project MEDIA!

Janna is from Sutter Creek, California and is one of eight children. She is a Senior at BYU studying psychology and plans to get a master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy after graduating from BYU. She is very interested in children, marriage, and the institution of the family, and is excited to continue to work with Project M.E.D.I.A. In her free time, she likes to bake, read, and chat with friends and family.

Claire is currently a sophomore at BYU and is studying Sociology with

a minor in Family Life, with the goal of becoming a Social Worker

after finishing school. She loves swimming, concerts, and making

chocolate chip cookies. Claire has spent a fair amount of time working

with kids in her life, and is looking forward to doing it again and

learning about development!

Kate is studying Communication Disorders with the goal of becoming a Speech-Language Pathologist. She hopes to help people find joy and connection through communication through her clinical work and eventually research. Kate’s passion for helping kids has previously involved her in testing and doing interventions for elementary age children with language disorders. She loves learning new things, reading, spending time in nature, and playing board and card games!

Aiyana comes from the small city of Madisonville, Kentucky. She is currently a junior at Brigham Young University, majoring in Family Life with an emphasis in Family Studies. With this degree, Aiyana wants to become an advocate for families in poverty and help provide access to resources and programs that can better people’s lives. Aiyana loves spending time with friends and family playing board games, watching movies, or just enjoying the great outdoors. She is so excited to be a part of Project Media!

Jenna is a sophomore from Grand Junction, Colorado, majoring in Communications with an emphasis in Comms Studies and minoring in Family Life Science. With that, she hopes to go into children’s educational media helping create a variety of media that is focused on educating while entertaining to make children better world citizens. Her free time is spent watching movies, reading books, playing games, and getting to know the thoughts and opinions of different people around the world.

Born and raised in Portland Oregon, Sarah loves rock climbing, yoga, and trying new food. Her favorite place to be is in a hammock overlooking anything pretty, with her music and her journal. As a major in Human Development, Sarah loves learning about psychological development. She is an advocate of improving childhood education, and hopes to design a new curriculum for grade school. As such, Sarah is thrilled to spend a summer with families in Denver.

Emily is from Billings, Montana and is studying psychology. She will attend graduate school at BYU in school psychology this fall. Emily enjoys working with children and forming new connections with others because everyone has a unique story to tell. When Emily has free time, she loves taking long road trips with friends and family, learning about other languages and cultures, listening to Irish music, and crocheting. She is thrilled to be apart of Project M.E.D.I.A again this summer.

Kenzie is a Family Studies major at Brigham Young University. She was born and raised in Toronto, Canada. Kenzie is planning on going on to getting her masters degree in Marriage and Family Therapy to become a practicing clinical therapist. In her spare time, you’ll find Mackenzie practicing yoga, weight training, and eating food! Kenzie is excited to learn more about research and interact with the participants of Project M.E.D.I.A.

Abel Huskinson

Abel Huskinson is a Senior studying Sociology and Political Science at BYU. He is from Bixby, Oklahoma, and misses the sod fields of his youth. Abel's research interests are aging populations, felony disenfranchisement, and adolescent distress outcomes. He intends to study Sociology in graduate school and obtain a PhD in Sociology/Demography. Abel loves pickleball, escape rooms, and all things public: transportation, education, and libraries.

Brooklyn Richins

Brooklyn is a Junior studying Public Health: Health Promotion and Spanish at Brigham Young University. She is from St. George, Utah, and loves everything involving the outdoors, from hiking, to rock climbing, to kayaking. She is an avid traveler, having been to 11 countries and 27 states, plus Washington DC and Puerto Rico. She is currently a research assistant, studying pregnancy discrimination and breastfeeding policies. She's excited to get involved in a new type of research this summer in Colorado!
