Welcome to Project M.e.d.i.a.

Media Effects on Development from Infancy to Adulthood

The purpose of our project is to examine how media influences children throughout their lifetime. Children born today are called "Digital Natives." This means that this generation of children experiences media in a different way than other generations. They grow up with the Internet, portable media devices, and information at the touch of a button! No research has examined the long term effects of being a "Digital Native" and living in this new media environment. The aim of Project M.E.D.I.A. is to study a group of children over a number of years to examine how their media use influences their attitudes and behavior.

We are currently recruiting new families in the hope of having a more representative sample of families from the Denver Metro Area. If you are interested in participating in the study click on the button below to apply! We currently have approximately 510 families participating in Project M.E.D.I.A. We will be contacting our participant families every Spring/Summer and we are hoping to continue this study for the next 20 years!
